Description

Registered Nurse - Ortho Inpatient

Location

Urbana, Illinois

Job Type

Day Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM
12-hour shifts, approximately 36 hours per week
Contract length: 13 weeks

Job Description

Provide professional nursing care to orthopedic and medical/surgical patients using the nursing process.
Perform initial patient assessments and develop, implement, and modify individualized plans of care.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of nursing care.
Educate patients on wound care, mobility, self-care, medication management, and care transitions.
Coordinate care with physicians and surgeons.
Delegate and monitor interventions performed by healthcare team staff.
Manage orthopedic traction devices and surgical traction for mobility and wound care.
Handle wound appliances such as wound vacs, drains, pouches, and other urological devices.
Ensure patient and employee safety by identifying and addressing hazards.
Communicate effectively with colleagues and provide constructive feedback.
Fulfill all departmental competency requirements.

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in Illinois
Minimum 1 year of orthopedic nursing experience within the last year
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
Trauma nursing experience
Experience with Epic electronic health record system
