Registered Nurse - Surgical Unit
Location

- Contract length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Provide professional nursing care to a group of patients during assigned shifts using the nursing process and current nursing practices.
- Perform initial patient assessments upon admission and develop, implement, and modify individualized plans of care.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of nursing care.
- Ensure patient and employee safety by identifying and addressing hazards.
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with healthcare team members.
- Provide post-operative care for complex surgical patients, including:
- Monitoring and caring for new tracheostomies
- Managing wounds requiring wound vac and complex wound care
- Assessing, managing, and educating patients and families on new ostomies
- Work collaboratively with surgical and oral maxillofacial surgery residency services.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Illinois
- Minimum 1 year of Med Surg nursing experience within the last year
- Experience in an inpatient setting
- Trauma experience
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing
