Registered Nurse – Cardiac Catheterization Lab Prep/Recovery

Job Summary

Provide professional nursing care to a group of patients during a designated time frame, utilizing nursing processes, current trends, technology, and resources to ensure quality patient care in the cardiac catheterization lab prep and recovery area.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform all unit-specific nursing duties within the scope of service.
• Implement procedures and theories related to cardiac cath lab prep and recovery.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of nursing care for healthcare team use.
• Complete initial patient assessments upon admission and develop individualized plans of care based on patient and family needs.
• Implement and modify plans of care through continuous evaluation.
• Ensure patient and employee safety by identifying and addressing hazards and incidents.
• Communicate effectively with colleagues to resolve issues and support professional development.
• Maintain competency in point-of-care testing including glucose, ACT/ISTAT, and UHCG.
• Care for and monitor patients receiving and recovering from moderate sedation.
• Assess, monitor, and remove arterial and venous sheaths.
• Prepare patients for procedures, including lab work, IV placement, and shaving.
• Assist physicians or physician assistants with bedside procedures, including managing supplies, ordering specimens, and hemodynamic monitoring during procedures.

Required Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) license appropriate for Illinois.
• Minimum of 1 year of relevant nursing experience.
