Respiratory Care Practitioner (RRT) - Night Shift

Location: Peoria, Illinois

Hours: 12 hours per day, 36 hours per week
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

Responsible for managing respiratory therapy processes including ventilator management, ECG, oxygen administration, airway management, and patient education. Provides patient care activities involving all forms of respiratory therapy and non-invasive cardiology, following physician orders and hospital policies.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform respiratory therapy and ventilator management, including setting alarms and performing ventilator checks every 2 hours and as needed.
• Conduct patient bedside lab testing (ABGs) and maintain quality control.
• Perform intubations and change tracheostomy tubes as assigned.
• Respond promptly to emergency situations, rapid response team calls, and codes.
• Document all therapy, ventilator settings, oxygen administration, ECGs, and diagnostic tests accurately.
• Educate patients, students, and other healthcare professionals on respiratory care and ventilator functions.
• Maintain a clean and stocked work area; perform oxygen rounds.
• Follow infection control procedures and use protective equipment appropriately.
• Collaborate with physicians and healthcare team members to optimize patient care.
• Participate in patient rounds with physicians when assigned.
• Ensure patient safety by adhering to hospital policies and national patient safety goals.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Respiratory Care Practitioner license in Illinois
• Respiratory Care Practitioner with at least 1 year of experience, including experience within the last year
• Completion of an Associate's degree or a Certificate in Respiratory Therapy
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
