Registered Nurse - Emergency Department

Job Description

Provide professional nursing care to a group of patients during assigned shifts using nursing processes, current trends, technology, and resources.
Perform initial patient assessments upon admission and develop, implement, and modify individualized care plans in collaboration with providers, patients, and families.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of nursing care.
Ensure patient and staff safety by identifying, reporting, and correcting hazards.
Communicate effectively with healthcare team members, patients, families, and visitors to promote a healing environment.
Provide constructive feedback to peers and engage in continuous professional development.

Department-Specific Functions

Apply nursing procedures and theories specific to Emergency Department (ED) nursing.
Perform ongoing patient assessments and adjust care plans accordingly.
Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure quality patient care and safety.

Required Qualifications

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois.
Minimum 3 years of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience, including experience within the last year.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing.
Experience working with Level 2 Trauma patients.
Experience using Epic electronic health record system.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree.
Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) certification.
