ICU RN Position in New Mexico

Job Summary

• Provide direct patient care to an assigned group of ICU patients during a shift using the nursing process.
• Ensure safe, effective, patient-centered, timely, efficient, and equitable care.
• Assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and document individual patient needs, actions taken, and patient responses.
• Coordinate patient care through collaboration with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed or per standard protocols, documenting accordingly.
• Identify and address patient and family learning and discharge needs throughout the episode of care.
• Supervise LPNs and non-licensed assistive personnel clinically.
• Complete patient population, age-specific, procedure, and protocol education and competency testing per unit standards.
• Floating between departments or local locations within 20 miles is required.

Work Schedule & Environment

• Shift: 0.9 FTE, 3x12 hour night shifts.
• Weekend work: As needed.
• On-call/call-back: As needed.
• Charge/precept responsibilities: As needed.
• Patient ratios: 1 nurse to 2-3 patients.
• Unit bed count: 8 beds.
• Dress code: Solid matching scrub tops and bottoms.

Required Qualifications

• Current ICU RN with at least 2 years of experience in the specialty.
• Must have completed at least one previous 13-week travel assignment.
• Must successfully pass a Basic Cardiac Arrhythmia (BCA) test administered onsite before starting the assignment. One retest allowed; failure on second attempt results in contract cancellation.
• Must be a team player, flexible, and able to work in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with EPIC electronic health record system preferred; training available onsite.
