Description
Registered Nurse – Medicine Pediatrics
Location: Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Includes weekend and holiday requirements
Hours: 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week
Job Summary
Provide nursing care under general supervision to pediatric patients with a range of health problems from simple to complex. Responsibilities include patient assessment, medication administration, monitoring physiological data, assisting physicians with exams and minor procedures, and coordinating care plans with patients and families.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage an assigned group of pediatric patients.
- Document patient responses to nursing interventions and medical treatments.
- Assist physicians during examinations and minor diagnostic procedures.
- Monitor and intervene based on patients’ physiological data.
- Administer medications, intravenous infusions, and blood products.
- Communicate care plans to patients and families, including at discharge.
- Delegate tasks to support staff as appropriate.
- Float across various pediatric units including acute care (surgical, behavioral health, medical specialties such as GI, neuro, respiratory), hematology/oncology, step-down, and cardiac pediatrics.
- May float to NICU to care for low-acuity feeder growers (non-traditional NICU patients).
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Oklahoma.
- Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
- Pediatric Medical-Surgical nursing experience of at least 1 year, with experience within the last year.
- Experience working with Level 1 Trauma patients.
- Experience with tracheostomy care.
- Experience with high flow oxygen therapy.
- Proficiency in first-line nursing skills.
- Experience with infusion therapy.
- Pediatric nursing experience.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
Additional Information
- Must be able to float across multiple pediatric specialty units as needed.
- Weekend and holiday work required.
