Job Opportunity: Radiographer (Radiologic Technologist)
Location: Detroit, Michigan
Contract Length: 16 weeks
Job Summary
Under the direction of a Radiologist, perform radiologic procedures to evaluate pathological conditions as ordered by a physician. Use independent judgment to determine appropriate radiographic techniques, positioning, and safety practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Explain examination procedures and prepare patients for imaging.
- Review clinical data and obtain additional patient history as needed.
- Prepare procedure rooms and maintain supplies.
- Analyze patient anatomy, set up equipment, and perform radiologic procedures manually.
- Select and administer intravenous contrast media when required; monitor patients for reactions and provide immediate care if necessary.
- Apply radiation protection principles, including shielding and dose reduction techniques (ALARA).
- Prepare and set up sterile equipment and follow infection control protocols.
- Ensure patient safety, privacy, confidentiality, and comfort during procedures.
- Complete all required documentation, including worksheets, logs, patient records, and radiology information system (RIS) entries.
- Manage image quality and exceptions in PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System).
- Review and confirm clinical protocols with Radiologists before procedures.
- Participate in teaching and educating new hires and students while maintaining own duties.
- Demonstrate teamwork, communication, customer service, and respect for diversity consistently.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
- Work primarily in hospital settings including fixed units, inpatient departments, operating rooms, and emergency rooms with mobile units.
- Potential exposure to radiation, high-voltage equipment, and contagious patients.
- Occasional lifting or moving of equipment and patients exceeding 10 lbs.
Schedule
- Position 1: Monday to Friday, 11:00 AM – 7:30 PM
- Position 2: Every other weekend, 1:00 PM – 11:30 PM
- 40 hours per week, 8 hours per day
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent or maintenance of required hours of continued education
- Registered Radiology Technologist (ARRT) certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Minimum of 1 year of Radiology Technologist experience, including experience within the last year
- Experience working with Level 1 Trauma or Level 2 Trauma patients

Experience Requirements
- Specialty experience: Radiographer (Radiologic Technologist) – minimum 1-2 years preferred (implied by trauma and OR experience requirements).
- Prior travel experience: Not required.
