Registered Nurse – Digestive Health Procedures
Location: Urbana, Illinois
Employment Type: Clinical Nursing
Shift: Day
Hours: 8 hours/day, 36 hours/week
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
The Registered Nurse (RN) provides professional nursing care to a group of patients within the Digestive Health specialty. Responsibilities include patient assessment, planning and implementing care, monitoring patients during procedures, and collaborating with the healthcare team. The RN also assists anesthesia providers during cases requiring anesthesia and cares for patients in both phase 1 and phase 2 recovery.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform initial patient assessments and develop individualized plans of care.
- Implement nursing interventions and modify care plans based on ongoing evaluation.
- Prepare patients for digestive health procedures, including starting IVs and providing education.
- Monitor and sedate patients during procedures.
- Assist Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs) during anesthesia cases.
- Provide care during recovery phases post-procedure.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of nursing care.
- Promote patient and staff safety by identifying and addressing hazards.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues and provide constructive feedback.
- Engage in continuous learning and professional development.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois.
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN) or Associate of Science in Nursing.
- Minimum of 1 year of Med Surg nursing experience within the last year.
- Experience in Gastroenterology.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
