Registered Nurse (RN) - Clinical Resource Unit (Float Pool)

Location: Normal, Illinois

Hours: 12 hours per day, 36 hours per week
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

• Provide specialized nursing care across multiple inpatient units including Medical-Oncology, Surgical-Orthopedic, Cardiovascular Care, Progressive Care, Mental Health, and Acute Rehab.
• Care for patients with diagnoses such as coronary artery disease, myocardial infarction, dysrhythmia, congestive heart failure, strokes, cancer, cellulitis, post-surgical care, and chest pain.
• Work in a fast-paced, evolving environment utilizing current technology and equipment.
• Float between units as needed to meet patient care demands.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop, implement, and modify individualized care plans.
• Administer medications and evaluate their effects, including IV venipuncture and blood administration.
• Provide post-operative care and prepare patients for procedures.
• Document all nursing care accurately using electronic medical records (EMR).
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate and deliver high-quality patient care.
• Delegate patient care tasks to healthcare team members and validate task completion.
• Prioritize patient safety by adhering to fall precautions, pressure ulcer prevention, isolation precautions, and ambulation safety.
• Conduct bedside shift reports, hourly rounding, and maintain updated patient communication boards.
• Manage conflict professionally and maintain effective communication within the healthcare team.
• Educate patients and families on care plans and discharge instructions.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Illinois
• Float experience (minimum 1 year)
• Float experience within the last year
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
