Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
Location: Normal, Illinois
Employment Type: Clinical Allied Health
Shift: Night
Hours: 12 hours per day, 36 hours per week
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
The Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) provides routine and critical respiratory care for neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients under supervision.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate patient respiratory care outcomes according to care plans.
- Administer and document routine respiratory therapy and medications.
- Set up, maintain, and document oxygen therapy, aerosol/humidity therapy, and ventilator therapy.
- Provide ventilator support and airway management across all age groups.
- Perform arterial and capillary blood gas analysis (with Medical Director approval).
- Participate in blood gas quality control and proficiency studies.
- May be trained in endotracheal intubation and arterial line insertion.
- May assume charge responsibilities.
- Complete assessments on ventilated patients and others receiving respiratory care.
- Accurately document care in the electronic medical record (EMR) and charge accordingly.
- Maintain and process respiratory equipment.
- Evaluate patients for respiratory therapy in inpatient units, Emergency Room, and ICUs.
- Participate in transport teams for NICU, pediatric, and adult patients.
- Assist with cleaning and stocking respiratory care equipment and supplies.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Illinois (IL RCP License)
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
- Minimum 1 year of respiratory therapy experience within the last year
- Associate degree or certificate in Respiratory Therapy
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
