Description

Registered Nurse - Observation Unit

Location

Urbana, Illinois

Job Type

Contract length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
Hours per week: 36 (12-hour shifts)

Job Description

Provide professional nursing care to a designated group of patients using the nursing process.
Perform initial patient assessments and develop, implement, and modify individualized plans of care.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of nursing care.
Assess IV sites every 4 hours and start new IVs per policy.
Identify changes in patient status and respond appropriately.
Ensure patient and employee safety by reporting or correcting hazards.
Communicate effectively with healthcare team members and provide constructive feedback.
Participate in professional development and fulfill departmental competency requirements.
Attend at least 5 out of 6 staff meetings annually.

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in Illinois
Minimum 1 year of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience within the last year
BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
Experience working with Level 1 Trauma patients
Experience with Epic electronic health record system
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing
