Description
Nuclear Radiology Specialist
Location: Houston, Texas
Employment Type: Travel Clinical Allied
Contract Length: 14 weeks
Shift: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
Hours: 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week
Job Description
- Perform routine and specialized nuclear radiology procedures as requested by licensed independent practitioners for radiologist interpretation.
- Integrate scientific knowledge, technical skills, patient interaction, and compassionate care to produce diagnostic information.
- Demonstrate detailed understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology.
- Maintain high accuracy in patient positioning and exposure techniques.
- Apply and enhance knowledge of radiation safety and protection for self, patients, and others.
- Prepare, administer, and document medication-related activities in compliance with state regulations and institutional policies.
- Ensure exam rooms are stocked and maintain inventory according to par levels.
- Confirm patient identity using approved identifiers and verify pregnancy and informed consent status.
- Assess contraindications such as medication risks, patient history, lab results, and preparation adequacy.
- Determine type and dose of contrast agents based on patient age, weight, and medical status.
- Provide age-appropriate care and anticipate/respond to patient needs throughout procedures.
- Pediatric experience preferred but not required.
- Skills include IV insertion and quality control.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Nuclear Medicine Technologist license in Texas
- Minimum 3 years of Nuclear Medicine Technologist experience, including experience within the last year
- Certified Medical Radiologic Technologist (CMRT)
- Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) by NMTCB or Nuclear Medicine Technologist (N-ARRT) by ARRT
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Technical diploma or graduation from a formal diagnostic Radiology program
- Proficient in quality control
Additional Information
- Must be articulate, courteous, and supportive when interacting with patients, families, nursing staff, faculty, and administrative personnel.
- Ability to independently scan patients following established protocols.
- Basic understanding of medical terminology required.
