Registered Nurse (RN) - Travel Assignment

Location: Watonga, Oklahoma
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

• Provide comprehensive nursing care including executing provider orders, medication administration, and assisting in patient examinations and treatments.
• Apply nursing and supervisory techniques in the care and treatment of inmates/residents.
• Perform technical/clinical procedures within scope of education and licensure.
• Attend sick calls with physician, prepare exam rooms, operate pill call, dispense medication, and document accordingly.
• Assess new or ill/injured inmates/residents and refer to emergency care as needed.
• Perform emergency procedures and coordinate professional medical services with contract personnel.
• Monitor inpatient hospitalizations for early releases when appropriate.
• Supervise licensed vocational/practical nursing staff and non-licensed medical staff.
• Maintain confidentiality of medical records and ensure documentation accuracy.
• Audit pharmacy use for formulary adherence and comply with controlled substance laws.
• Observe and record inmate/resident behavior; inspect medical unit for contraband risks.
• Provide health counseling and education individually or in groups.
• Assist with preparation and maintenance of medical records, reports, and logs.
• Interpret medical, legal, and regulatory documents.
• Support accreditation efforts by providing approved medical services efficiently.
• Prepare safety and accident reports and respond appropriately to serious incidents.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Oklahoma.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Minimum of 1 year of correctional nursing experience, with experience within the last year required.
