Description

Registered Nurse - Emergency Department (ED)

Location: Urbana, Illinois
Employment Type: Clinical Nursing
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (3:00 PM - 3:00 AM)
Hours: 12 hours per day, 36 hours per week

Job Summary

Provide professional nursing care to a group of patients in the Emergency Department using the nursing process and current nursing practices.
Perform patient assessments, develop and implement individualized care plans, and modify plans based on ongoing evaluation.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of nursing care.
Ensure patient and staff safety by identifying and addressing safety hazards.
Collaborate and communicate effectively with healthcare team members, patients, and families.
Support professional development of peers through constructive feedback.

Required Qualifications

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois.
Minimum 3 years of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience, including experience within the last year.
Experience in an Acute Care setting.
Trauma experience.
Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association
- CALS (Certified Advanced Life Support)
Education: Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
Experience with Epic electronic health record system.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) certification preferred.

Additional Information

Night shift includes 2 call shifts per 6-week schedule; call shifts are 13 hours with expectation to be onsite within one hour.
A 2-week night rotation is required for all travelers.
Emergency Department nursing experience is essential.
