Description

Registered Sleep Technologist

Location: Detroit, Michigan (with potential travel to multiple sleep lab locations in the region)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 4 days per week, 10-hour shifts (7:30 PM – 6:30 AM)
Hours per Week: 40 hours


Job Summary

  • Perform and oversee complex sleep study procedures and therapeutic interventions, including CPAP and BiPAP titrations.
  • Assist technicians with troubleshooting during challenging data acquisition to ensure high-quality polysomnography (PSG) studies.
  • Score and tabulate sleep recordings based on established guidelines (sleep stages, respiratory events, limb movements).
  • Generate detailed reports and performance summaries for physician interpretation.
  • Maintain compliance with Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT) Standards of Conduct.

Work Environment

  • Candidate will work primarily at the main Detroit campus but must be willing to work at other regional sleep lab locations as needed.
  • Will work with patients starting at 5 years of age; preference for candidates with experience working with children.
  • On-the-job training provided for electronic health record system (Epic).

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) certification through BRPT
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Minimum of 1 year of polysomnographer experience, including experience within the last year
  • Strong knowledge of HFHS Sleep Center Guidelines for Sleep Reliability scoring
  • Experience with BiPAP titration
  • Ability to perform sleep reliability scoring according to HFHS Sleep Center Guidelines

  • Strong knowledge of sleep center guidelines for sleep reliability scoring is essential.
