Pathologists Assistant
Location
- Jackson, Michigan
Job Summary
- Provide services in Anatomic Pathology under the supervision of a qualified Pathologist.
- Assist in preparation and performance of human post-mortem examinations.
- Perform gross description and complete dissection of surgical specimens.
- Select and submit tissue sections for microscopic examination (frozen and permanent).
- Accession specimens and ensure proper identification according to pathology policies.
- Prepare containers and tissue cassettes.
- Perform autopsies including external examination, organ inspection, evisceration, dissection, tissue submission, and documentation.
- Conduct gross photography of specimens as needed.
- Responsible for tumor procurement for biorepository.
- Participate in quality assurance and quality control activities, including specimen identification, frozen sections, and instrument maintenance.
- Manage inventory and ordering of supplies for frozen section room and surgical pathology lab.
- Assist in resident training and competency assessment.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Contract Length
- 9 weeks
Schedule
- Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM
- 40 hours per week
- Overtime is billable after 40 hours per week
Required Qualifications
- Pathologists' Assistant with at least 1 year of experience, including experience within the last year
- PA (ASCP) Certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Bachelor of Science degree from a regionally accredited college or university
