Registered Nurse (RN) - Behavioral Health

Location: Belle Mead, New Jersey
Employment Type: Clinical
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM (12-hour shifts)
Schedule: 3 shifts per week (36 hours), every other weekend required

Job Summary

• Provide individualized quality patient care by assessing needs, designing, implementing, and evaluating care plans.
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary treatment team.
• Perform nursing admission assessments considering patient’s age, disability, ethnicity, culture, religion, sexual orientation, and gender identity.
• Administer medications and treatments accurately, monitor effects, and document accordingly.
• Participate in treatment planning conferences and update plans as needed.
• Maintain therapeutic milieu and set therapeutic limits; provide effective one-on-one interactions.
• Implement unit-specific protocols including suicide prevention, seclusion, restraint, and quiet area procedures.
• Maintain a safe and orderly environment, handle infectious/hazardous materials per policy.
• Document patient information accurately and timely, including assessments, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
• Participate in orientation of new staff and students as assigned.
• Model professional standards of behavior.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Jersey
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Minimum of 2 years of behavioral health nursing experience
• Behavioral health nursing experience within the last year
• Experience in an inpatient behavioral health setting

• Floating between units as needed to meet patient care demands

• Work environment includes inpatient behavioral health setting with adolescent, adult, and older adult patients
