Registered Nurse (RN) - Operating Room (OR) - Travel

Location: Summit, New Jersey
Contract Length: 8 weeks
Shift: AM (7:00 AM - 4:00 PM)

Job Summary

Provide competent perioperative nursing care to surgical patients across the continuum of care. Responsibilities include thorough patient assessments, direct patient care, documentation, patient education, and collaboration with the perioperative team to ensure patient safety and satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive assessments for patients from pediatric to geriatric populations.
• Deliver direct nursing care tailored to surgical patients, including pre-operative and postoperative assessments.
• Maintain accurate and complete documentation of nursing processes and patient progress.
• Demonstrate knowledge and use of emergency equipment and procedures.
• Follow National Patient Safety Goals, including Universal Protocol and patient identification using two identifiers.
• Use safe transfer techniques and proper body mechanics.
• Educate patients and families about surgical procedures and post-operative care.
• Support timely completion and evaluation of Pre Admission Testing (PAT) orders.
• Prioritize and direct patient care based on patient needs and condition changes.
• Maintain professionalism and confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in New Jersey
• Minimum 1 year of Operating Room (OR) experience within the last year
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
