Job Summary
The Registered Nurse (RN) provides professional nursing care to a group of patients during a designated time frame. Responsibilities include patient assessment, care planning, implementation of nursing interventions, and ensuring patient safety. The RN collaborates with the healthcare team to promote effective patient care coordination and maintains accurate documentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform all unit-specific nursing duties within scope of service.
- Complete initial patient assessments and develop individualized care plans.
- Implement and modify nursing interventions based on continuous patient evaluation.
- Ensure patient and employee safety by identifying and addressing hazards.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Provide constructive feedback to peers and pursue ongoing professional development.
- Receive and give bedside shift reports including patient input and safety checks.
- Delegate tasks to healthcare team members and validate task completion.
- Document patient care activities such as vital signs, medication administration, admission/discharge, hourly rounding, and patient education.
- Administer medications following the "5 Rights": right patient, medication, route, dose, and time.
- Maintain compliance with safety measures including fall precautions, pressure ulcer prevention, and isolation protocols.
- Respond promptly to patient call lights and medical needs.
- Use critical thinking and nursing judgment to identify and act on changes in patient condition.
- Manage time efficiently to facilitate quick admission, discharge, and patient testing processes.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois
- Minimum 1 year of Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
