Registered Nurse - MedSurg

Location: Chapel Hill, North Carolina
Employment Type: Clinical Nursing
Shift: Nights
Hours: 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

Provide competent clinical nursing care in a hospital setting, coordinating and delivering patient care using the nursing process. Responsible for assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and communication to ensure continuity and quality of care.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver care to patients with complex medical-surgical conditions, addressing physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs.
• Perform bedside point-of-care testing as required.
• Organize and prioritize patient care based on individual and family needs.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to evaluate and revise plans of care.
• Assess patient and family readiness to learn; use appropriate patient education materials.
• Anticipate and plan for discharge needs.
• Participate in unit goals, performance improvement, and cost-effective care initiatives.
• Promote a safe, clean, and secure hospital environment.
• Communicate effectively within and across departments.
• Engage in professional development and lifelong learning.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina.
• Minimum 1 year of Medical-Surgical nursing experience within the last year.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited nursing school.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.

Preferred Qualifications

• BSN or MSN from an accredited nursing school.
