Description
Electrophysiology Technologist
Location: Hackensack, New Jersey
Employment Type: Clinical-Allied
Contract Length: Approximately 7 weeks (50 days)
Shift: 11:00 AM - 7:30 PM or 9:00 AM - 7:30 PM
Schedule: 5 days of 8 hours or 4 days of 10 hours per week
Additional Schedule Info: Weekends and holidays as needed; on-call required
Job Summary
Assist physicians with invasive cardiac and peripheral diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including temporary and permanent pacemaker placement and circulatory support devices (e.g., IABP, Impella).
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and organize equipment and sterile trays for procedures
- Assist with patient positioning and monitoring setup
- Calibrate and test transducers for accurate pressure readings
- Assist physicians during diagnostic and interventional procedures
- Operate power injector and sterile support equipment
- Maneuver table controls and fluoroscopy as requested
- Calibrate hemodynamic monitoring equipment and analyze data, including ventriculography and valve area calculations
- Calculate and record cardiac output and oximetry readings
- Maintain digital cine technology standards for image and data storage
- Assist with vascular access, sheath removal, and hemostatic closure devices
- Manage inventory control and equipment preparation
- Adhere to Clinical Cardiovascular Information Systems (CVIS) requirements
- Apply radial access banding and maintain hemostasis
- Recognize and interpret cardiac arrhythmias
- Maintain and calibrate diagnostic and technical equipment
- Participate in catheterization lab on-call duties
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of Electrophysiology Technician experience, including recent experience within the last year
- Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) certification
- Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Graduate of a Radiologic Technologist program or Associate degree in Applied Science (AAS)
- Experience as a Cath Lab Technologist
