Description
Registered Nurse (RN) - Clinical Resource Unit (Float Pool)
Location: Normal, Illinois
Shift: Night (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Hours per Week: 36 hours
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Provide specialized nursing care across multiple inpatient units including Medical-Oncology, Surgical-Orthopedic, Cardiovascular Care, Progressive Care, Mental Health, and Acute Rehab.
- Care for patients with diagnoses such as coronary artery disease, myocardial infarction, dysrhythmia, congestive heart failure, strokes, cancer, cellulitis, post-surgical care, and chest pain.
- Work in a fast-paced, evolving environment utilizing current technology and equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive nursing assessments, develop and modify individualized care plans based on patient and family needs.
- Administer medications, prepare patients for procedures, manage post-operative care, perform IV venipuncture and blood administration.
- Document all nursing care accurately using electronic medical records (EMR).
- Provide direct patient care and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate and optimize patient outcomes.
- Float to various inpatient units as needed.
- Delegate patient care tasks to healthcare team members and validate task completion.
- Conduct hourly rounding, bedside shift reports, and maintain patient communication boards.
- Prioritize patient safety by adhering to fall precautions, pressure ulcer prevention, isolation precautions, and ambulation safety.
- Manage acute and chronic cardiac and pulmonary patient care.
- Provide patient and family education regarding care plans and discharge instructions.
- Maintain professional communication and handle conflict management within the team.
- Act as a resource and provide constructive feedback to peers.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Minimum of 1 year of Intensive Care Unit (ICU) experience, including ICU experience within the last year
- Experience in cardiac care
- Experience in pulmonary care
