Registered Nurse (Cardiac Med/Surg 2) - Night Shift

Location: Peoria, Illinois
Employment Type: Clinical Nursing
Shift: Night (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Hours: 8 hours/day, 36 hours/week
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

Provide professional nursing care as part of an interdisciplinary team, managing and delivering patient care through the nursing process. Focus on cardiac medical/surgical patients, applying evidence-based practices and collaborating with patients, families, and healthcare team members to achieve optimal outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess patient status via interview, observation, and physical assessment.
• Develop and modify individualized care plans collaboratively.
• Implement interventions to meet expected patient outcomes.
• Evaluate and document patient progress continuously throughout the shift.
• Perform patient bedside lab testing and specimen collection per provider orders and policies.
• Troubleshoot and operate clinical equipment safely.
• Promote patient and staff safety, including proper use of lift equipment.
• Coordinate interdisciplinary care and communicate effectively with team members.
• Prioritize workload based on patient condition and assignment changes.
• Provide goal-focused shift reports and advocate for patients as needed.
• Use appropriate teaching strategies tailored to patient/family needs and comprehension.
• Demonstrate professional accountability and pursue ongoing self-development.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of applicable nursing experience.
• Current Illinois RN license in good standing.
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification from the American Heart Association.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend fluent English.
• Basic computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, email, and web browsing.
• Critical thinking and independent judgment skills.
• Multicultural sensitivity and effective communication skills.

Education

• Required: Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN)
• Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
