Description
OR Radiology Tech
Location: Neptune, New Jersey
Employment Type: Clinical-Allied
Shift: 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM (Evenings)
Hours: 8 hours/day, 40 hours/week
Schedule: 5 days a week (5 x 8)
Weekend and Holiday Requirements: As needed
On-Call: None
Floating: As needed
Job Summary
Perform a variety of radiographic duties in an operative setting, including preparation and administration of contrast media, obtaining optimum radiographs with minimal exposure, and ensuring radiation protection for patients and staff. Work closely with radiologists and surgeons to meet technical and procedural expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and administer contrast media agents safely; report adverse reactions and assist with first aid/CPR as needed.
- Explain procedures clearly to patients to alleviate fears and address concerns promptly.
- Utilize radiology equipment efficiently and safely in the OR setting.
- Obtain high-quality radiographs with proper radiation protection.
- Mark films with lead ID markers and initial all films and requests.
- Verify patient identity before procedures.
- Accurately implement physicians' orders and prescriptions.
- Perform technical procedures to meet radiologist and surgeon standards.
- Adhere to organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Special Procedures Technologist license in New Jersey
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a Special Procedures Technologist, including experience within the last year
- ARRT certification
- BLS certification
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Knowledge and application of radiation protection principles
- Experience as an X-Ray Technician
