Job Description
- Provide direct care to cardiovascular medical-surgical patients, including post-operative day one CABG, thoracotomy, and vascular surgery patients.
- Perform initial patient assessments upon admission and develop, implement, and modify individualized plans of care.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of nursing care.
- Conduct hourly rounding on patients.
- Ensure patient and employee safety by identifying and addressing hazards and incidents.
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with healthcare team members.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Fulfill all departmental competencies and participate in ongoing professional development.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois.
- Minimum 3 years of Cardiovascular Unit (CVU) nursing experience, including experience within the last year.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing.
- Experience in cardiovascular surgical care, including CABG and vascular surgery.
- Medical-surgical nursing experience.
