Job Summary

Provide professional nursing care to patients with neurological conditions such as mild to severe brain injury due to stroke, trauma, or surgery. Responsible for patient assessment, care planning, implementation of nursing interventions, medication administration, and patient safety within the nursing process framework.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform initial patient assessments and develop individualized plans of care.
• Implement and modify nursing care plans based on continuous patient evaluation.
• Administer medications following the "5 Rights": right patient, medication, route, dose, and time.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of nursing care.
• Delegate tasks to healthcare team members and validate completion.
• Ensure patient safety through fall precautions, pressure ulcer prevention, isolation precautions, and safe ambulation.
• Respond promptly to patient call lights and medical needs.
• Identify and respond immediately to neurological changes and seizure activity.
• Communicate effectively with the healthcare team to promote interdisciplinary collaboration and patient care coordination.
• Maintain a positive and professional attitude to support a healing environment.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois
• Minimum 3 years of Med Surg nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• Neurology nursing experience
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Education

• Required: Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN)
• Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
