Description
Registered Nurse – Emergency Department
Location: Goldsboro, North Carolina
Employment Type: Clinical Nursing
Shift: Nights
Hours: 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Provide competent clinical nursing care in an emergency department setting, coordinating and delivering patient care using the nursing process. Responsible for assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and collaboration with the interdisciplinary team to ensure quality patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver care to patients with complex problems, addressing physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs.
- Perform bedside point of care testing as required.
- Assess patient and family readiness to learn; use appropriate patient education materials.
- Collaborate with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams to develop and update care plans.
- Prioritize and organize care based on patient needs, including discharge planning.
- Participate in unit goals, performance improvement, and cost-effective care initiatives.
- Promote a safe, clean, and secure environment.
- Communicate effectively within the healthcare team and with patients/families.
- Stay informed about public policy and regulatory guidelines affecting healthcare.
- Engage in professional growth activities and contribute feedback to coworkers.
- Apply research findings relevant to nursing practice.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited school of nursing
Preferred Qualifications
- BSN or MSN from an accredited school of nursing.
- Certifications such as PALS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) are recognized but not required.
