Description

RN - Labor Delivery Recovery Postpartum

Location: Goldsboro, North Carolina
Employment Type: Clinical Nursing
Shift: Nights
Hours: 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

Provide competent clinical nursing care in a hospital setting, coordinating and delivering patient care using the nursing process. Responsible for patient assessment, care planning, implementation, evaluation, and interdisciplinary communication. Promote a safe, clean, and secure environment while supporting patient and family education and advocacy.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assess patient/family readiness and developmental level for education; use relevant patient education materials.
  • Identify expected patient outcomes and participate in revising plans of care as needed.
  • Deliver care to patients with complex problems, including physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs.
  • Perform bedside point of care testing as required.
  • Organize and prioritize care based on patient/family needs.
  • Consult appropriate resources for complex care issues, teaching needs, and discharge planning.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to evaluate and plan patient care.
  • Participate in unit goals, performance improvement, and cost-effective care initiatives.
  • Develop professional growth goals and participate in intra/interdepartmental collaboration.
  • Recognize and synthesize complex assessment data to determine care priorities.
  • Address cultural and ethnic considerations in care planning.
  • Develop relationships with families to support patient advocacy.
  • Stay informed on relevant research and contribute ideas for practice improvement.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year of nursing experience.
  • Licensed Registered Nurse in North Carolina.
  • Nursing Diploma, ADN, or ASN from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers (AHA or ARC).
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification (AHA or ARC).
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
  • Ability to circulate for C-sections.
  • Ability to triage obstetric patients.
  • Experience with Epic electronic health record system.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5 years of Labor & Delivery nursing experience highly preferred.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited school.
