Description

Cardiovascular Specialist

Location: Raleigh, North Carolina
Employment Type: Clinical-Allied
Shift: Days (rotating days of the week)
Hours: 12 hours per day, 36 hours per week
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

  • Document history and physical assessments for patients undergoing procedures in the cath lab.
  • Explain procedures and treatments to patients to ensure cooperation and reduce apprehension.
  • Prepare patients for procedures by positioning and using appropriate equipment.
  • Operate diagnostic imaging equipment to produce contrast-enhanced radiographs of the heart and cardiovascular system (angiocardiograms).
  • Operate multichannel physiologic monitors to measure and record cardiovascular and pulmonary functions during cardiac catheterization.
  • Observe patients, record significant conditions and reactions, and communicate with physicians regarding patient status and responses to treatments.
  • Assist physicians during diagnostic and interventional procedures.
  • Provide technical assistance as needed.
  • Comply with departmental, hospital, and regulatory policies and procedures.
  • Maintain personal growth, development, and professional accountability.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Associate's degree (A.A.) or completion of a program related to cardiovascular studies.

Experience

  • Minimum of 1 year experience as a Cath Lab Technologist, with experience within the last year.

Certifications & Licensure

  • Valid Cath Lab Technologist license in North Carolina
  • Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS)
  • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS)

Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, and regulations.
  • Strong report writing, business correspondence, and procedure manual creation skills.
  • Effective presentation skills and ability to respond to questions from diverse audiences.
  • Proficient in mathematical calculations including basic algebra and geometry.
  • Strong reasoning skills to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret complex technical instructions involving abstract and concrete variables.

Preferred Certifications

  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • Respiratory Care certification

Additional Information

  • Work hours are typically from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM on a rotating day schedule.
