Description
Cardiovascular Specialist
Location: Raleigh, North Carolina
Employment Type: Clinical-Allied
Shift: Days (rotating days of the week)
Hours: 12 hours per day, 36 hours per week
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Document history and physical assessments for patients undergoing procedures in the cath lab.
- Explain procedures and treatments to patients to ensure cooperation and reduce apprehension.
- Prepare patients for procedures by positioning and using appropriate equipment.
- Operate diagnostic imaging equipment to produce contrast-enhanced radiographs of the heart and cardiovascular system (angiocardiograms).
- Operate multichannel physiologic monitors to measure and record cardiovascular and pulmonary functions during cardiac catheterization.
- Observe patients, record significant conditions and reactions, and communicate with physicians regarding patient status and responses to treatments.
- Assist physicians during diagnostic and interventional procedures.
- Provide technical assistance as needed.
- Comply with departmental, hospital, and regulatory policies and procedures.
- Maintain personal growth, development, and professional accountability.
Required Qualifications
Education
- Associate's degree (A.A.) or completion of a program related to cardiovascular studies.
Experience
- Minimum of 1 year experience as a Cath Lab Technologist, with experience within the last year.
Certifications & Licensure
- Valid Cath Lab Technologist license in North Carolina
- Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS)
- Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS)
Skills & Abilities
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, and regulations.
- Strong report writing, business correspondence, and procedure manual creation skills.
- Effective presentation skills and ability to respond to questions from diverse audiences.
- Proficient in mathematical calculations including basic algebra and geometry.
- Strong reasoning skills to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret complex technical instructions involving abstract and concrete variables.
Preferred Certifications
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
- Respiratory Care certification
Additional Information
- Work hours are typically from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM on a rotating day schedule.
