Description

Echocardiographer

Location: Hackensack, New Jersey
Employment Type: Clinical-Allied
Shift: 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM, Monday – Friday
Hours: 8 hours/day, 40 hours/week
Contract Length: 16 weeks


Job Summary

  • Perform cardiac ultrasound procedures including 2-D M-Mode, color flow imaging, stress echo, TEE, and Doppler studies.
  • Assist cardiology attending during stress echocardiogram and TEE procedures.
  • Demonstrate complete knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology.
  • Obtain patient history and perform ordered procedures.
  • Help patients onto and off the bed.
  • Notify supervisor of acute or life-threatening abnormalities and communicate abnormal studies directly to the cardiologist.
  • Acquire and store digital echo studies for physician interpretation.
  • Transport equipment for bedside studies.
  • Calibrate, clean, and maintain equipment; report breakdowns and supply needs.
  • Complete billing charge requisitions, log books, worksheets, and reports.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment, including room preparation.
  • Apply aseptic and sterile techniques and isolation principles as per policy.
  • Modify and deliver care specific to patient needs (age, culture, language, sensory impairments).
  • Assist in training new employees.
  • Participate in performance improvement initiatives.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • High school diploma or its equivalent, or completion of a certified cardiovascular technology school program.

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as an Echo Technologist, including experience within the last year.

Certifications & Licensure

  • Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) or Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) certification.

Skills & Knowledge

  • Familiarity with hemodynamic monitoring.
