Description
Ultrasound Sonographer
Location: Austin, Minnesota
Employment Type: Travel Clinical Allied
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Work Schedule:
- 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday
- 8-hour shifts (options: 7:00 AM–3:30 PM, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM, or 8:30 AM–5:00 PM)
- On-call weekday evenings/nights (5:00 PM–7:00 AM, approx. 2 shifts/month)
- Weekend on-call Friday 5:00 PM to Monday 7:00 AM (approx. 2 shifts per 13-week assignment)
Job Summary
- Produce high-quality ultrasound images for physician interpretation, meeting established radiology standards.
- Practice proper safety guidelines for self, support personnel, and patients.
- Foster teamwork through effective communication.
- Maintain flexibility to staff various locations, shift times, and lengths.
- Perform other duties as assigned to ensure efficient and optimal patient care.
Required Qualifications
Education
- Graduate of an accredited sonography or radiography program.
Certifications & Licensure
- ARDMS registered or registry-eligible in Vascular Technology (RVT) or RDMS (Abdominal or OB/GYN) within 6 months of employment (RVT preferred first).
- Obtain both RVT and RDMS certifications within 12 months of employment.
- Obtain a third certification (Abdominal or OB/GYN) within 18 months of employment.
- For breast imaging, obtain RDMS (Breast) certification within 24 months of competency achievement.
- Employees hired specifically for vascular sonography who are not eligible for Abdomen and OB/GYN certifications are exempt from those registry requirements.
- BLS certification required.
Experience & Skills
- Ultrasound sonographer experience preferred, including general ultrasound, OB, and vascular. Breast ultrasound experience is a plus.
- Organized, efficient, and multifunctional.
- Ability to work independently.
- Excellent interpersonal and effective communication skills.
- Flexibility to work varied hours, shifts, and respond to on-call pager including days, evenings, nights, holidays, and weekends.

- Competence required in a variety of imaging equipment and technology as determined by competency assessments.
- Commitment to high-level patient service through proper communication, technique, and safety.
