Nuclear Medicine Technologist
Location: Olney, Illinois
Employment Type: Clinical-Allied
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day (5am - 2pm)
Hours: 8 hours/day, 40 hours/week
On-Call: Rotating on-call required
Job Summary
The Nuclear Medicine Technologist is responsible for overseeing technical procedures, patient care, and workflow in the Nuclear Medicine area to ensure safe and effective patient care. This includes performing diagnostic studies and assisting with therapeutic administrations using radiopharmaceuticals and imaging equipment in compliance with safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform all essential Nuclear Medicine Technologist functions.
- Serve as a technical resource and subject matter expert for staff, management, and physicians.
- Manage patient scheduling and workflow to maximize efficiency.
- Coordinate staff coverage during high exam volumes and adjust staffing during low volumes.
- Participate in staff scheduling and timecard edits.
- Engage in quality assurance and quality control programs.
- Ensure compliance with accrediting bodies, licensure, and safety guidelines.
- Schedule and oversee technical equipment service and maintenance.
- Develop training programs and evaluate staff technical skills.
- Ensure completion of new employee and annual competencies.
- Recommend personnel actions including hires, promotions, transfers, and disciplinary measures.
- Assist with accreditation processes and policy/protocol updates.
- Perform coaching and document staff performance conversations.
- Collaborate with technical staff to organize and direct workflow.
- Maintain productivity levels as per department benchmarks.
- Assist other areas during downtimes to maintain productivity.
- Achieve quality standards to maintain compliance with DNV, OSHA, and other regulations.
- Address daily operational issues such as equipment problems and staff assignments.
Required Qualifications
Education
- Certificate of Completion in Radiologic Technology
OR - College Diploma in a related field
Experience
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist within the last year
Certifications & Licensure
- Valid Nuclear Medicine Technologist license in Illinois
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association
- Certified Nerve Conduction Technologist (CNCT) or ARRT certification
