Description
Pathologist Assistant
Location: Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
Employment Type: Clinical Technician
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week
Job Summary
- Perform gross descriptions of simple or limited specimens under direct supervision.
- Assist during autopsies and prepare frozen section slides.
- May perform routine histology tasks.
- Receive and register specimens using appropriate patient identifiers.
- Conduct calibration and routine maintenance of laboratory instruments and equipment.
- Label tissue cassettes and assist in preparation of frozen tissue sections (labeling, cutting, staining).
- Prepare patients for evisceration during autopsy.
- Work on call for autopsies.
- Photograph specimens for documentation and conferences.
- Comply with all safety policies and use appropriate PPE.
- Maintain professional development and complete annual competency assessments.
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s degree or higher required.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Pathologists' Assistant, with experience within the last year.
