Echo Tech

Overview

• Location: Peoria, Illinois
• Specialty: Adult echocardiography / cardiac ultrasound
• Employment type: Clinical allied
• Contract length: 13 weeks
• Shift: Day
• Hours: 40 hours per week, 8-hour shifts
• Schedule: Monday–Friday, with start times between 6:45 AM and 7:30 AM

Role Summary

• Performs high-quality ultrasound studies of the heart and great vessels for adult patients
• Assists with exercise and non-exercise stress testing
• Supports transesophageal echocardiograms (TEE)
• Participates in mobile echo/vascular service regionally and callback rotation

Required Qualifications

• Echo Technologist experience within the last year
• 3 years of Echo Technologist experience
• Associate's Degree in Ultrasound
• ARDMS or CCI
• BLS issued by American Heart Association

Key Clinical Skills

• Cardiac ultrasound imaging and Doppler techniques
• Recognition of normal and abnormal cardiac structure and function
• Knowledge of patient positioning, transducer positioning, and breathing techniques
• Ability to identify imaging artifacts
• Knowledge of gross and sectional anatomy
• Ability to assess and document patient history, physical findings, and supporting clinical data
• Proficiency in stress testing, holter monitoring, and event monitoring
• Ability to recognize lethal arrhythmias and respond appropriately in crisis situations

• Quarterly competency is required in stress lab, holter monitoring, and event monitoring
• Pediatric echocardiograms are part of the role
