Job Description
- Perform routine and specialized ultrasound examinations, adapting procedures to obtain specific diagnostic and/or therapeutic results under radiologist direction.
- Prepare patients for examinations and obtain accurate histories.
- Perform ultrasound procedures ensuring accurate and complete exams for patients of all ages.
- Use appropriate transducers and machine settings to enhance image quality.
- Evaluate finished images to ensure diagnostic quality for radiologist review.
- Assess abdominal arterial and venous systems using color imaging.
- Maintain and troubleshoot ultrasound equipment, including hardware and software.
- Set up sterile trays and assist radiologists with biopsies.
- Order labs and pathology tests as directed by radiologists.
- Maintain quality assurance, quality control, and quality improvement programs.
- Document and report equipment issues.
- Manage patient flow and enter patient information accurately into hospital information systems.
- Train and guide fellow technologists and students, fostering a professional and respectful learning environment.
Required Qualifications
- Ultrasound Technologist with at least 1 year of experience, including experience within the last year.
- Associate's Degree in Ultrasound/Sonography or a Certificate of completion of an Ultrasound/Sonography program.
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- ARDMS (American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography) certification.
- Experience assisting with biopsies.
