Registered Nurse - Intensive Care Unit

Location: Chapel Hill, North Carolina

Hours: 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

Provide competent clinical nursing care in an intensive care unit setting, coordinating and delivering patient care using the nursing process.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver care to patients with complex problems, addressing physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs.
• Perform bedside point of care testing as required.
• Assess patient and family readiness to learn and use appropriate education materials.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to evaluate and revise patient care plans.
• Organize and prioritize care based on patient and family needs.
• Anticipate and assess discharge needs, supporting patient and family advocacy.
• Participate in unit goals, performance improvement, and cost-effective care initiatives.
• Promote a safe, clean, and secure hospital environment.
• Apply healthcare organization and nursing standards, policies, and procedures.
• Use effective communication to ensure continuity of care and intra/interdepartmental collaboration.
• Incorporate cultural and ethnic considerations into patient care planning.
• Engage in professional growth activities and apply research findings to practice.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
• Minimum 1 year of recent experience in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited school of nursing
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC)
