Registered Nurse (RN) - CVICU/Stepdown

Location: Urbana, Illinois
Employment Type: Clinical Nursing
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (1900 - 0730)
Hours: 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week

Job Summary

Provide direct nursing care to Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) patients, including post-operative CABG, vascular, and ICU status patients. Responsible for patient assessment, care planning, implementation of nursing interventions, documentation, and maintaining a safe environment. Collaborate with healthcare team members and participate in hourly patient rounding.

Essential Functions

• Perform nursing duties within the scope of CVICU practice.
• Complete initial patient assessments and develop individualized care plans.
• Implement and modify care plans based on ongoing patient evaluation.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of nursing care.
• Ensure patient and staff safety by identifying and addressing hazards.
• Communicate effectively with colleagues and provide constructive feedback.
• Maintain unit and hospital competencies.
• Keep work environment clean and organized.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Illinois
• Minimum 3 years of CVICU experience, including experience within the last year
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• ACLS certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree.

Additional Information

• Night shift schedule with 12-hour shifts.
• Experience in CVICU and vascular patient care preferred.
• Must be proactive in patient care and teamwork.
