Radiology Specialist - X-Ray Tech

Location: Houston, Texas

Job Description

• Perform routine and specialized radiographic procedures as requested by licensed independent practitioners for radiologist interpretation.
• Integrate scientific knowledge, technical skills, patient interaction, and compassionate care to produce diagnostic information.
• Maintain high accuracy in radiographic positioning and exposure techniques.
• Prepare and verify patient identity, pregnancy status, and informed consent before procedures.
• Assess contraindications such as medication risks, patient history, lab results, and preparation adequacy.
• Determine type and dose of contrast agent based on patient age, weight, and medical status.
• Provide age-appropriate care from pediatric to adult patients.
• Operate and troubleshoot radiology equipment including automated processors, film digitizing equipment, R.I.S., and PACS.
• Maintain exam room supplies and inventory to ensure continuous workflow.
• Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills and provide courteous, supportive patient and team interactions.
• Honor patient confidentiality and follow established scanning protocols independently.

Schedule

• Day Shift: 7:30 AM – 5:00 PM
• 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week

Contract Length

• Approximately 14 weeks

Required Qualifications

• Valid Radiology Technician license in Texas.
• Radiology Technician experience with a minimum of 3 years, including experience within the last year.
• X-Ray Technician experience.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Certified Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
• Certified Medical Radiologic Technologist (CMRT) licensed by the Texas Medical Board.
• Technical diploma from a formal diagnostic Radiology program.

Additional Information

• Must be articulate, courteous, and supportive when interacting with patients, families, nursing staff, faculty, and administrative personnel.
• Knowledge of medical terminology is required.
• Prior travel experience is not specified as a requirement.
