Radiology Specialist - X-Ray Tech
Location: Houston, Texas
Employment Type: Travel Clinical Allied
Job Description
- Perform routine and specialized radiographic procedures as requested by licensed independent practitioners for radiologist interpretation.
- Integrate scientific knowledge, technical skills, patient interaction, and compassionate care to produce diagnostic information.
- Maintain high accuracy in radiographic positioning and exposure techniques.
- Prepare and verify patient identity, pregnancy status, and informed consent before procedures.
- Assess contraindications such as medication risks, patient history, lab results, and preparation adequacy.
- Determine type and dose of contrast agent based on patient age, weight, and medical status.
- Provide age-appropriate care from pediatric to adult patients.
- Operate and troubleshoot radiology equipment including automated processors, film digitizing equipment, R.I.S., and PACS.
- Maintain exam room supplies and inventory to ensure continuous workflow.
- Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills and provide courteous, supportive patient and team interactions.
- Honor patient confidentiality and follow established scanning protocols independently.
Schedule
- Day Shift: 7:30 AM – 5:00 PM
- 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week
Contract Length
- Approximately 14 weeks
Required Qualifications
- Valid Radiology Technician license in Texas.
- Radiology Technician experience with a minimum of 3 years, including experience within the last year.
- X-Ray Technician experience.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Certified Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
- Certified Medical Radiologic Technologist (CMRT) licensed by the Texas Medical Board.
- Technical diploma from a formal diagnostic Radiology program.
Additional Information
- Must be articulate, courteous, and supportive when interacting with patients, families, nursing staff, faculty, and administrative personnel.
- Knowledge of medical terminology is required.
- Prior travel experience is not specified as a requirement.
