Operating Room Technician

Location

Johnson City, New York

Contract

13 weeks

Schedule

• Day shift
• 40 hours per week
• 5 x 8-hour shifts or 4 x 10-hour shifts
• Rotating call duty required

Required Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Certified Surgical Technologist (1 year of experience)
• Certified Surgical Technologist experience within the last year
• NBSTSA or CST
• BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Experience with Epic

Preferred Experience

• Previous operating room experience
• Previous surgical technologist experience

Job Responsibilities

• Maintain sterile technique and asepsis in the operating room
• Assist the surgeon with gowning, gloving, draping, instrument passing, suturing, retracting, and suctioning as directed
• Keep an organized operative field and maintain accurate counts of sponges, tape, needles, dissectors, and instruments
• Prepare supplies and equipment for cases and care for instruments and supplies after each case
• Support patient safety, identify hazards, and assist with OR turnover between cases
• Handle and identify specimens according to policy
