Rad Tech - Rad Gen

Overview

  • Radiologic Technologist performing diagnostic general radiological procedures.
  • Based in Urbana, Illinois.
  • Shift: Days, Tuesday through Friday, 8:00a–6:30p.
  • Contract length: 13 weeks.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Radiology Technologist license in Illinois.
  • Radiology Technologist experience within the last year.
  • 1 year of Radiology Technologist experience.
  • IEMA Radiography License.
  • ARRT (R).
  • BLS issued by American Heart Association.
  • Associate's degree in a related field or certificate in radiologic technology.

Responsibilities

  • Performs radiographic procedures by acquiring and processing patient exams according to department protocols and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Reviews cases with the radiologist when appropriate.
  • Reviews labs and patient history to perform the correct exam.
  • Administers IV, oral, and rectal contrast when appropriate.
  • Recognizes and responds to adverse or allergic reactions.
  • Screens for pregnancy and performs pregnancy testing if applicable.
  • Reviews radiology orders for completeness and accuracy.
  • Reviews patient history and supporting clinical data for medical necessity.
  • Obtains additional information from the patient, ordering provider, and/or radiologist when needed.
  • Transfers and verifies image data in PACS and provides necessary medical history and information for radiologist interpretation.
  • Maintains imaging equipment, supply inventories, and work area orderliness.
  • Reports equipment malfunctions and service needs in a timely manner.
  • Ensures patient, visitor, and environmental safety and reports safety events immediately, including near misses.
  • Assists in instruction of students and new staff as necessary.
  • May perform duties of Rad Tech Lead or Imaging Coordinator in their absence.
  • May be required to perform duties of other modalities within the department for which the technologist/sonographer is licensed.
  • Assists other areas during downtimes to maintain productivity.
