Unit/Department MS-Tele Float What units are included in the float pool Mutliple units ranging for General MS-Tele into various specialities from Cardiac, Neuro, Oncology, Rehab, Renal, Bariatrics, Ortho, Trauma, & ED Obs Nurse:Patient Ratios 1:5-6 based on acuity Required Certifications (i.e., BLS, ACLS?) BLS, ACLS Common diagnoses/Types of patients "Population: Adults- Geriatrics Cardiac, Neuro, Ortho, Oncology, Renal, Urology-post surgicals, General Surgery-post appy, Gynecology, Psych/Detox, ENT, General Medicine, stable long term placement patients, and more" Experience or 'Must have' skills "Must have 2 years of MS-Tele experience in the last 3 years Prefer prior neuro experience Prefer Alaris and EPIC experience" Are RNs required to titrate drips? Heparin Common titratable &/or set rate drips Charge Nurse/House Supervisor? Does the charge nurse take an assignment? Designated Charge on each unit; doesn't take a patient assignment unless necessary; more common for night shift charge to end up with a small pt assignment Are there nurse aids on this unit/Ratios Yes RT Equipment (vents, Cpap, BiPap, etc) Yes Is there tele on this unit? Monitor Techs? RNs read strips? Shifts & Scheduling (Do you allow self-scheduling? Block scheduling?) "7-7, Schedule is made out by leadership for 6 wks at a time, travelers are expected to be flexible and help to fill gaps in permanent scheduling. All time off requests need to be submitted prior to starting assignment" Weekend Requirements 6-9 weekend shifts in a 6 week schedule Holiday Requirements May be asked to go into the Holiday Rotation Is there a call or standby requirement? Rare, for low census How are units assigned? i.e. via text message, daily sheet assignments, set schedule?
