Description
Job Title: RN - Step Down
Facility: CHI Health Creighton University Medical Center - Bergan Mercy
Shift: Days, 12-hour days
Start Date: Not Specified
Assignment Length: Contract duration of 13 weeks (Originally scheduled to end 16/03/2026), with 48-hour weekly contracts
Certification and License Requirements:
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) License in the state of Nebraska (or appropriate compact state license)
- ACLS Certification (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) – Required
- BLS Certification (Basic Life Support) – Required
- NIHSS Certification (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) – Required
What You Bring:
- Valid and current Nebraska RN license or eligible for licensure across compact states
- At least 1-2 years of recent experience in Step Down, ICU, PCU, or MedSurg units, with the ability to adapt quickly to diverse patient needs
- Proven competency in managing post-acute and complex patient cases within a high-acuity setting
- Strong critical thinking skills and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
Preferred Education & Experience:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or higher degree preferred
- Prior travel nursing experience highly desirable
- Experience with cardiovascular, neurological, or general ICU/PCU units, particularly managing PCU patients and understanding patient ratios
- Knowledge of current best practices in critical care and step-down units
