Description

Job Title: RN - Step Down
Facility: CHI Health Creighton University Medical Center - Bergan Mercy
Shift: Days, 12-hour days
Start Date: Not Specified
Assignment Length: Contract duration of 13 weeks (Originally scheduled to end 16/03/2026), with 48-hour weekly contracts

Certification and License Requirements:

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) License in the state of Nebraska (or appropriate compact state license)
  • ACLS Certification (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) – Required
  • BLS Certification (Basic Life Support) – Required
  • NIHSS Certification (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) – Required

What You Bring:

  • Valid and current Nebraska RN license or eligible for licensure across compact states
  • At least 1-2 years of recent experience in Step Down, ICU, PCU, or MedSurg units, with the ability to adapt quickly to diverse patient needs
  • Proven competency in managing post-acute and complex patient cases within a high-acuity setting
  • Strong critical thinking skills and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams

Preferred Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or higher degree preferred
  • Prior travel nursing experience highly desirable
  • Experience with cardiovascular, neurological, or general ICU/PCU units, particularly managing PCU patients and understanding patient ratios
  • Knowledge of current best practices in critical care and step-down units
