Facility: Catholic Medical Center
Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM (12-hour shift)
Start Date: 12/29/2025
Assignment Length: 12.0 weeks, with potential extension

Position Overview:
Catholic Medical Center is seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for our Emergency Department. This critical role involves providing high-quality care in a fast-paced environment, managing a diverse patient population with complex medical needs. The ideal candidate will thrive on teamwork, exhibit strong clinical skills, and demonstrate adaptability in a busy ED setting.
Unit Details:
- Location: Emergency Department, 100 McGregor St, Floor A, Building 2004
- Capacity & Layout:
- 4 beds in a secure, locked psychiatric annex
- 25 procedure rooms (with curtains or doors)
- 8 hallway beds used around the clock
- Staffing:
- Total Staff: 88 (varied roles)
- Shift-specific staffing ratios and team composition detailed below
- Patient Population:
- Patients with multiple comorbidities including NEHI (New England Heart Institute) cases, cardiac conditions, DKA, sepsis, trauma, stroke, psychiatric cases
- Equipment & Technologies:
- Ultrasound, IV skills, Lucas device, Hotline Rapid Infuser, Alaris pumps, Pyxis medication system
- Electronic Medical Records (EMR): Sunrise/Allscripts
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver efficient and compassionate emergency care to patients with urgent and complex medical conditions
- Perform assessments, develop care plans, and execute clinical procedures such as trauma management, stroke care, laceration repairs, orthopedic trauma, ultrasound-guided IV insertions, IO insertions, EKG interpretation, and psychiatric evaluations
- Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams
- Utilize advanced equipment proficiently and adhere to safety protocols
- Maintain accurate documentation within EMR systems
- Assist in triage and patient flow management during high-volume periods
Certifications & Licenses:
- Active and unrestricted.
- BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC are required for contract labor.
- Candidates without these certifications will not be considered.
What you bring:
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of recent ED experience for contract candidates, with strong assessment and critical thinking skills
- Proven ability to handle high-acuity situations and adapt quickly to changing priorities
- Excellent communication skills with patients, families, and team members
- Dependability, punctuality, and professionalism
- Proficiency in medical terminology
- Ability to perform invasive procedures, interpret EKGs, and utilize hospital equipment confidently
Preferred & Nice-to-Have Skills:
- At least 1 year of ED experience in HCA employment
- Additional certifications such as MOAB or advanced EKG interpretation
- Strong understanding of cardiac monitoring and complex diagnosis management

- Dress Code: Scrubs (no hooded shirts or sweatshirts for safety reasons)
- Shift Schedule: Every other weekend for contract staff; every third weekend for HCA-hired personnel
- Unit Policies: Adherence to protocols based on chief complaints, including ordering labs, imaging, and medications as per departmental protocols
- Floating Areas: None
