Job Description:
Join our dedicated team as an RN on the Medical Surgical / Telemetry unit at Advocate Southeast, a reputable teaching hospital located at 920 Church St N, Concord, NC. This 28-bed specialty unit handles a diverse patient population including orthopedic, spine, trauma, vascular surgeries, and medical overflow cases. As an RN, you will provide high-quality care, utilizing your post-surgical skills to monitor incision sites, manage drains, chest tubes, wound care, mobility, and assist with specialized procedures such as trach care and NG tube insertion. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team supported by advanced technology, including EPIC EMR, Phillips and Massimo monitors, and Omnicell medication dispensing systems.
What You Bring:
- Minimum of 18 months of recent Med/Surg/Tele RN experience in a hospital setting
- Proven ability to care for postoperative and medical overflow patients with complex needs
- Strong assessment skills and proficiency in wound care, drain management, and post-surgical interventions
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment with multiple patient ratios (RN: 1:4-6, surge up to 1:7-8; CNA: 1:7-10)
- Flexibility to float within region and scope of practice as needed
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to adhere to safety standards and patient-centered care principles
Preferred Education & Experience:
- Nursing degree from an accredited program (ASN, BSN preferred)
- At least 1.5 years of recent Med/Surg/Tele nursing experience in a hospital environment
- Experience with trauma, orthopedic, or vascular patient populations is desirable
Certifications and Licenses:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - Required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) - Required
- NIHSS (National Institute of Health Stroke Scale) - Required for Resource Team
- Valid RN License in North Carolina - Required
- Ability to successfully complete hospital and department-specific orientation
