Facility Overview:
Located at 821 N Cobb St, Milledgeville, GA 31061, Advocate Southeast is a 140-bed hospital with a Level 3 Trauma designation, committed to providing high-quality care in a dynamic environment.

Unit Information:

• Beds: 12 (Average Census: 6-10)
• Experience Requirement: Minimum of 2 years of ICU experience
• First-time travelers accepted
• Patient Types: Medical ICU patients with diagnoses including respiratory failure, renal failure, sepsis, GI bleed, DKA, hypotension, hypertension, stroke, pneumonia, cancer, ARDS, overdoses
• Chronic ventilator and tracheostomy management
• Hemodynamically unstable patients requiring invasive monitoring and close observation

Patient Care Responsibilities:

• Managing ventilated patients
• Recognizing and responding to critical changes in patient condition
• Administering and titrating vasoactive medications (e.g., insulin drips, heparin)
• Managing invasive lines: arterial lines, central venous lines, intracranial pressure monitoring
• Performing bedside procedures: chest tube management, tracheostomies, PEG tube insertions
• Monitoring cardiac rhythms and interpreting telemetry data
• Ensuring safe patient turns, rounds, and assisting with activities of daily living as needed

Certifications & Licenses Required:

• Licensed Registered Nurse (RA. State license required)
• NIHSS certification
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• Preferred (not required): CCRN (Critical Care Registered Nurse) certification
• BCR (Basic Cardiac Rhythm) certification

Preferred Education & Experience:

• Nursing degree (ASN or BSN) from an accredited program
• At least 2 years of ICU experience managing complex, critically ill patients
• Experience with invasive monitoring, ventilators, and vasoactive medications
• Prior experience in high-acuity ICU settings, demonstrating strong clinical judgment and adaptability

Skills & Competencies:

• Proficiency in trach care, chest tube management, and line management
• Ability to operate glucometers, infusion pumps, and other ICU equipment
• Expertise in ventilator management and bedside procedures
• Strong assessment skills and ability to respond swiftly to changes in patient condition
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills within a multidisciplinary environment
• Ability to multitask efficiently in a busy ICU setting

Support & Resources:

• Dedicated charge nurses and resource nurses available
• 24/7 hospitalist and intensivist coverage
• Mobile resources including a PICC team and RT services
• Use of advanced electronic medical records (Epic), infusion pumps, monitors, and other ICU-specific equipment

Orientation & Scheduling:

• 1-day facility orientation plus 2 days departmental orientation
• Schedule: 12-hour shifts (7 PM - 7 AM), rotating weekends (5-6 out of 12 weekends every 6 weeks)
• No on-call requirement
• Holiday shifts: work one shift of major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s) with manager approval for RTO
