Facility: Advocate Southeast
Shift: 12-Hour Night Shift (7 PM - 7 AM)
Start Date: 12/15/2025
Assignment Length: 13 months (Scheduled End: 03/14/2026)
Job Description:
Join our dedicated team at Advocate Southeast as a Registered Nurse specializing in Medical-Surgical and Telemetry units. This is an excellent opportunity to provide top-tier patient care in a Level 3 Trauma Designated facility with 140 licensed beds located at 821 N Cobb St, Milledgeville, GA. The unit manages a diverse patient population, including those with acute or chronic diseases, post-operative cases, and common co-morbidities such as diabetes, hypertension, infections, CHF, and electrolyte imbalances.
You will be responsible for delivering comprehensive nursing care, including IV management, wound care, cardiac monitoring, and discharge planning. Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams and utilize advanced technology such as EPIC EMR, Phillips monitors, and Glucommander to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
The unit operates on a busy, team-oriented culture where efficiency, clinical excellence, and patient safety are prioritized.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Licenses & Certifications:
- Active RN License (GA) — Required
- BLS (Basic Life Support) — Required
- BCR (Basic Cardiac Rhythm Recognition) — Required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) — Preferred, Not Required
- Medical-Surgical Certification — Preferred, Not Required
Skills & Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years current Med-Surg/Telemetry nursing experience in a hospital setting
- Proficient in chest tube management, trach care, PIV insertion, insulin, and heparin drips
- Strong clinical assessment skills with the ability to interpret cardiac telemetry
- Experience with wound care, post-operative monitoring, and patient education
- Ability to perform IV insertion and care, manage central lines
- Skilled in care coordination, discharge planning, and interdisciplinary communication
- Comfortable using EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Philips monitors, and other hospital technology
Preferred Education & Experience:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or higher degree preferred
- Prior experience working in a Level 1 Trauma or similar high-acuity hospital environment
- Familiarity with rapid turnover protocols and telemetry technology
Additional Details:
Support within the Department:
- CNA responsibilities include vital signs, glucose checks, patient mobility, and basic care
- Unit secretary manages administrative tasks, with charge nurses overseeing unit operations
- 24/7 availability of RT, Hospitalists, and Intensivists for comprehensive patient support
- Phlebotomy duties primarily handled by lab staff; nurses may draw from CVLs
Technology/Equipment:
- EMR: EPIC
- IV Pumps: Alaris
- Medication Dispensing: Omnicell
- Monitors: Phillips, VS3 vital sign monitors, Nova Glucose, Dynamapp telemetry
- Other equipment includes bladder scanners, portable oxygen, glucometers, and suction devices
Orientation & Scheduling:
- One-day facility orientation plus two days of departmental training
- 12-hour shifts scheduled on a rotating basis with 5-6 weekends per 12-week cycle
- No on-call requirement
- Work major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year) based on unit needs
- Shift times: 7 AM - 7 PM or 7 PM - 7 AM
- RTO requests subject to manager approval
