Occupational Therapist
 
Compensation Range: $54/hour - $62/hour
Location: Troy, NY & Castleton, NY (Rensselaer County)

Position Summary
An Occupational Therapist is needed to support students at two elementary schools in Rensselaer County, NY as a dedicated school-based occupational therapy professional. This contract position involves working in person and collaborating closely with other members of the elementary school staff and Related Services team to assess and address student needs. The position would be four days per week with the schedule flexible to the preference of the OT. The position would be a combination of direct treatment and consultation.  There are seven other OT's in district, so there is the great advantage of collaboration with other in-district OT's as needed. Responsibilities
Schedule / Shift:

• Shift details: 8:30am - 3:30pm, 4 days per week
• Hours per week: 32.5 hours per week
• Contract length: October 19, 2026 to June 25, 2027

  Key Duties

• Deliver in-person OT services, focusing on supporting and empowering students to achieve educational and developmental goals.
• Maintain accurate records on all children assigned to the program.
• Develop, implement, and monitor individualized direct treatment plans.
• Contribute to IEP meetings and collaborate with teachers and staff to integrate OT strategies into the classroom environment.
• Adjust interventions and supports throughout the academic year.

  Requirements
Licenses & Certifications

• Must hold an active New York Occupational Therapist license

  Experience:

• Previous experience in school settings or working with children is preferred.

  Skills:

• Strong collaborative skills to partner with multidisciplinary diagnostic and educational teams.
• Effective communication abilities for working with students, educators, and families.
• Flexibility and a proactive attitude to adapt to a growing caseload as new students join the program.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and memos.
• Ability to climb multiple flights of stairs daily
• Ability to interact with staff and the public is required.
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
• Ability to work as a team member at all times
• Ability to perform all duties with an awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
