About

Located in the Post Oak Savannah region in east-central Texas, about midway between Austin and Houston, Brenham is a historic town surrounded by oak forests, rolling grassy fields and sprawling farmland. Its best known as the home of Blue Bell Creameries, one of the nation's largest ice cream producers. However, Brenham’s bustling downtown historic district offers art galleries, antique shops and outstanding restaurants housed in 1860s buildings. In between, you'll see lots of colorful outdoor murals, a professional theater, a craft brewery and concert halls. Wine enthusiasts can tour and taste at several wineries in the area, and those wanting to experience the past can visit the Barrington Living Farm, an 1850s homestead where costumed interpreters bring the period to life. Brenham is also famous for its bluebonnets and other wildflowers that blanket the landscapes with color every spring.
