Vascular Sonographer needed for Level 1 teaching facility in Mississippi. ARDMS (RDMS, RDCS or RVT) certification. Peds experience is preferred but not required. Department: Radiology - U/S (Vascular Technology) - General Certification Requirements (BLS): BLS, RDCS is Cardiac Sonography RVT is Vascular Technology ": RVT (Registered for Vascular Technology) or RVS - How many scanners/rooms does this department have? depends on the location - Will they have to float/cover any other areas?: Pavillion (2 rooms- clinic) Hospital - will cover adult hospital and childrens hospital, women and infants hospital, transport that will bring patients to the department and one sonographer that goes portable each day - Common types of imaging/studies performed & Job Duties: r/o DVTs, TCDs for neuro program, vein mapping, hemodialysis scans, carotids, segmentals, Manager evaluates experience in the following areas: Carotid Doppler Exams, Segmental Doppler Exams - (Upper extremities, Lower extremities), Venous Doppler Exams (Upper extremities, Lower extremeties) Bypass grafts Dialysis grafts Transcranial Doppler exams Mesenteric/Renal Doppler - Experience or 'Must have' skills: hospital experience, large hospital - volume is high at hospital, peds would be preferred but not required. - Average # of scans/studies per day: 10 studies per day on average - EMR &/or PACS (Picture Archive & Communication System: software & hardware) do they use : PACs system is ComPacs. EMR is EPIC - Department Specific Equipment (GE, Phillips, Siemens): Philips iE33 and EPIQ ultrasound equipment, Parks Flow segmental machine, and Dolphin IQ TCD machine. - Radiology Supervisor or Lead Tech: Supervisor over echo and vascular, - Do they use RRA's (Registered Radiology Assistants)?: no - Radiologist in-house?; Provider in house all the time, fellow or resident on call - Do they have to start IV's? (if applicable to the department): no - Shifts & Scheduling (Do you allow self-scheduling? Block scheduling?): 8 hours, 5 days per week, staggered start times between 0700-0830AM. Lab hours are 0700-1630 - Weekend Requirements: only call Friday 5p- Monday at 0730 (neuro patients serial TCDs, r/t DVT) 1 weekend per month - Holiday Requirements: 24 hours on holidays, staff rotates, traveler would be expected to assist if needed - Call or Standby requirement?: Call – AT least 1 weekday of call and 1 weekend per month. Monday through Friday 5:00 pm to 7:00 am. Weekend call from Friday 5:00 pm to Monday 7:00 AM. 1 night per week 1 weekend per month. Vascular call back is for emergent venous studies only. - Scrub Color/Dress Code: Are scrubs provided?: any scrubs, there is a scrub dispenser for procedural areas to wear hospital laundered scrubs - Department specific orientation: 2 week orientation for an experienced Vascular Sonographer to train on the main procedures performed in the Doppler Lab. documentation and images will be reviewed
